As we welcome the fall season and head into October, local food from our farmers’ fields is abundant and homemade comfort food takes centre stage. Have you had a look at our new microsite Shop Smarter, Eat Better? It’s got some great recipes to try at this time of year with your local produce! It’s also full of resources to help you eat well without breaking the bank and without harming the planet.

We’ve also recently launched VolonTerre, a network for environmental volunteer opportunities in Quebec, in collaboration with our partners. Check out the volunteer opportunities near you!

Thousands came out to support climate action

Last Friday, thousands of people took to the streets in 17 cities in Quebec for the Pour la suite du monde march. It was great to see you! Together, we delivered a message loud and clear to the government that we’ve had enough. We need the government to implement real solutions to the climate crisis.

To (re)live the experience as if you were there with Équiterre, have a look at our photo album.

Disinformation
Have you had enough of all the lies that seek to stall climate action?

At Équiterre, we’re concerned about how climate disinformation is undermining our work to educate and mobilize towards climate action. With a federal election approaching at some point soon, there’s more and more disinformation circulating about climate policies, blurring the facts and creating confusion. It’s especially alarming that well-funded groups, opinion leaders and companies are contributing to disinformation - intentionally spreading misleading information to protect their economic interests.

We can’t let disinformation create uncertainty on climate science and climate action. But what can you do? You can send our pre-written email to the government, calling for better regulation on disinformation.

You can also help counter disinformation by learning about climate issues from trusted sources. To help you feel confident to discuss climate action with your friends and family, our experts have prepared content on four topics that have recently been attacked with disinformation:

Carbon tax – does it really increase the cost of living?

Emissions cap – will it help or hinder the economy?

Clean Electricity Regulations – will they increase our rates?

Electric school buses – can we really electrify Quebec's entire fleet?

Do electric cars really pollute less than gas cars?

There have never been so many electric vehicles (EV) on the road. But while they're gaining in popularity, many still question whether they're really less polluting than gas-powered cars. Christine Beaulieu answers this big question in the latest video from our Running electric initiative (in French). Electric cars are an important step towards decarbonizing the transportation sector, but they alone won’t solve the environmental and social problems associated with transport. More and better public and active transportation options are also essential.

Do you have any other questions about electric vehicles? Do you need a trusted source of information to help you discuss EVs with your family and friends? Whether it's about the battery life, recharging or about the costs, Christine answers it all (in French) in these videos. We've got everything else you need to know on our Running electric website (in English!), including the top 8 frequently asked questions about electric vehicles.

We're making progress, thanks to our generous donors!

Please help support our next steps.
