Hello ,

The results of the election are in, and Canada has a new Liberal minority government. As citizens, we must continue to remind our decision-makers that protecting our environment must remain a priority. More than ever, we need to preserve our ecosystems and support climate action across the country.

Spring has finally sprung - the birds are chirping, the buds sprouting, and the trails are turning green! It’s a great time to get outside and appreciate the natural world around us. This renewed contact with nature can inspire us to do our best to protect it, and on Earth Day thousands of Quebecers were out in the streets to do just that.

Happy Spring!

Climate

Federal election 2025 - where do we go from here?

As the new minority government navigates economic priorities and international relations, it is imperative that the environment not be sacrificed for short-term solutions. The decisions taken in the coming months will be decisive for the future of the ecological transition, and it is essential to keep up the pressure for ambitious environmental policies. Together, with our members, supporters and partners, we must redouble our efforts to ensure that climate issues remain at the heart of the national agenda.

Mobility
Is the travelling environmentalist the ultimate taboo?

Travel is synonymous with rest, relaxation and discovery. For many people, being able to take off on vacation across the globe is considered a right, or even the norm. But for environmentalists and all those who are concerned about the environment, there’s some unease around travel because of greenhouse gas emissions, and because of its impact on natural environments and local communities.

Does that mean that we should forgo travel? Not necessarily. But it’s important to rethink our perspective and our relationship with travel, and to talk about it. It's by opening up these sometimes uncomfortable discussions that a new travel culture could emerge - one that's more informed, more fair and perhaps even more enriching.

Rediscovering the power of the bicycle

The weather is getting nicer and more and more Quebecers are getting their bikes out. They’re great for a weekend bike ride, but biking is also a fantastic way to get around - fun, good exercise, not expensive, and environmentally friendly! The numbers speak for themselves. In Quebec, the public health benefits of cycling are estimated at over $2 billion a year!

Cycling is becoming increasingly popular across the province (and not just in urban areas) thanks to electric bikes. They make it easier for people to cycle further and more often. But for cycling to become a true alternative to driving, more work needs to be done on accessibility, infrastructure, and to promote the sheer pleasure of biking.
