| Afficher dans le navigateur Hello ,   While our federal government is lauded internationally for defending Canadian sovereignty in the face of the United States, one of its first moves of the new parliamentary session is raising a serious red flag.   With its new Bill C-39, environmental and democratic safeguards would be significantly weakened to make way for oil and mining projects that serve the interests of multinational corporations and not our national interest.   Here in Quebec, we vote in four days, but our democratic power doesn’t end at the ballot box.   Whatever the political stripe of Quebec’s next government, Équiterre will be there to collaborate and help advance solutions. And we will continue to speak up, in Quebec City and Ottawa alike, whenever the environment, democracy and our ability to shape our own future are at stake.     Let’s vote on October 5, and stay engaged.   Until next time, The Équiterre Team Our advocacy Featured Équiterre’s statement on the Liberals’ new bill to gut environmental protections (C-39) After passing the Building Canada Act in 2025, Prime Minister Carney’s government is at it again with the proposed Building a Strong Canada Act.
